2011 Subaru Legacy Concept

As an Owner of 2008 Subaru Legacy, I must say this car is very nice in the rain and snow. Well, we know that, it is a Symmetrical AWD after all. Detail touch like excellent Fit and Finish, nice styling, and superb handling set this car to be a unique one. Subaru can improve the engine horsepower and upgrade the transmission to a better 6 Speed Automatic or DSG like VW. The existing 4 Speed Automatic transmission on the 2009 Legacy is not exactly aggressive, if you know what i mean.

Meanwhile, Subie is starting to expose this all newly redesign 2011 version of the Legacy at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show. With a look like that, the mid size competitors better put on their fighting gloves. Nice Job Subaru, hopefully the part ownership with Toyota will jump start investment on Subaru Product Development in a addition to what is currently a solid technology foundation in this auto company. More to come once we hear more on the all new Legacy..

2011 Chevrolet Volt - GM's Gem

The Chevrolet Volt is GM promising gem in saving the company. GM currently needs some serious bridge loans from the Government to stay afloat. To prove the point, CEO Rick Wagonner, ditched the private jet plane ride, drove the 2009 Chevy Malibu Hybrid to DC. In the morning, he drove in a 2011 Chevy Volt Test car for the meeting with Congress and Senate. To get off the bad press on executive wasting money out of the way, GM wants to correct the wasting money on private jet situation and promote the future Electric + Hybrid car for the future instead.

Now, about the Volt. GM calls it an Extended-Range Electric Vehicle (E-REV), it has a top speed of 100 mph and 40 miles on all-electric based on the EPA city cycle. The Chevrolet Volt can be plugged either into a standard household 120v outlet or use 240v for charging. The charging technology enables the Volt's battery to be charged in about eight hours on a 120v outlet. When fully charged, the Volt will deliver up to 40 miles of electric driving. The Volt's electric drive unit delivers the equivalent of 150 horsepower, 273 lb-ft. (370 Nm) of instant torque, and a top speed of 100 miles per hour. The lack of engine noise, combined with special sound-deadening materials, make the Chevrolet Volt an extremely quiet vehicle to drive.

GM estimates that the Volt will cost about two cents per mile to drive while under battery power compared to 12 cents per mile using gasoline priced at $3.60 per gallon or 6 cents per mile at $1.80/ gallon (best case scenario).

2010 Mazda3 Hatchback - Sexy New Rear from Bologna Auto Show

Do you guys recall the song "I love big butt and I cannot lie song" by Sir Mix-A-Lot back in the days of Hip Hop? Imagine the ladies in that song shown as a 2010 Mazda 3 Hatchback. Yes of course, the lovely Bologna Motor Show Italian model also helps prove the point.

Now here is the real facts besides the very nice and voluptuous bubble rear-end and a smiley face. For the U.S. market, The all-new Mazda3 Hatchback offers the same 2.5-liter four as the larger Mazda 6i sedan. This new engine replaces last year's 2.3-liter, and produces 11 more horsepower and 18 more lb-ft of torque, for totals of 167 hp and 168 lb-ft. The engine also receives an additional gear-the manual now has six forward ratios. The automatic remains a five-speed. With the sedan bodystyle, the 2.0-liter or 2.5-liter Four-cylinder powertrains are also available. The 2.0-liter produces 148 hp and 135 lb-ft of torque. A gem of an engine, it's both rev-happy and torquey, and mates to either a five-speed manual transmission or a new five-speed automatic.

The Smaller Engine is the Best Choice for Fun and Efficiency. When equipped with a manual, the 2.0-liter returns 25/33 city/highway on the EPA testing versus 21/29 for the 2.5-liter. The smaller engine is also easier to drive, with better calibrated throttle mapping and sportier power delivery. It's slower than the 2.5-liter, but with less than 20 hp separating the two engines, the 2.5's increased thirst for fuel isn't fully offset by the extra power (my opinion). Once we know Mazda's plan to bring its Turbo Diesel Engine to the U.S. then we will share those facts as well. If you want a super zoom zoom Mazda 3, then stay tuned to the Mazda Speed 3. The current Mazda Speed 3, 2008 model, did not come short or performance and gained many loyalist. We know Mazda will surprise us with the 2010 or 2011 Mazda Speed 3. Stay tuned, meanwhile - Can I order one of them hatchback bubble butt in blonde :)
